Secure By Design is not a retailer. It is not a manufacturer nor supplier. It is a voluntary scheme which provides an extra layer of accreditation to a product, based on police acceptable standards.
This means that a product approved by Secure By Design will have the relevant British Standards (‘BS‘) or European Standard (‘EN‘) which means the product complies with certain legal demands. It also means the product has passed a far more stringent and demanding set of tests, as well as a detailed vetting process for the manufacturer.
This means that when you buy an SBD product, you are in effect buying the best the market has to offer. You can also rest easy knowing you are buying from a police approved manufacturer. In terms of policing advice, the first port of call for any recommendation a qualified Designing Out Crime / Architectural Liaison Officer / Crime Prevention Officer would be SBD.
